saw the promo video for this masterclass on youtube and gave it a try - I have always loved the linking rings and have several instructional DVDs - this is by far the clearest and most informative presentation of the rings I have seen - the theory and discussion of dramaturgy were very insightful and gave good perspective on understanding the organization and flow of the performance - even the discussion of which way to turn to the audience to keep yourself and the act in full view - very helpful - the explanations were very clear and the slo mo video follow ups really helped to clarify the finer points of the hand and finger movements and how to handle the rings - this video set is well worth twice the asking price - I am looking forward to the second half of this masterclass - this has resurrected my rings routine and brought new life to my performances - thank you Axel for an exceptional educational video

  • Mark asks: The ad copy mentions 8-12 inch rings. But can the techniques (specifically in part 2 of the set) be used with smaller close up rings? I understand the routine in part 1 will require 7 rings (and will probably require the 8-12 inch rings) but I am more interested in the silent linking techniques in part 2 and making up my own routine using smaller close up 4 ring sets (4-5 inch set)

    • 1. Axel answers: Maybe some moves work also with small rings. But the moves are made for stage rings. I think the small rings appear too light and too small in relation to the performers hands. If you hold a close-up ring in the fist, it looks not so elegant and you cover a lot of the ring. To hold a larger ring in the fist looks more natural (my opinion). However I think to work on the silent moves can inspire everyone who works on rings and likes to find "new" approaches.

    • 1. Axel answers: Part One is the analysis of my 7 Ring Routine with every detail. Not just the mechanics but also the thinking behind it: Structure, Dramaturgy, economy of movements etc. I perform this routine for many many years in every situation: Big Stage, Parlour and close-up-shows (not table hopping)

  • Jan asks: Also, Chris Capehart wonderful Three Link Routine as an unusual crash link and invisible link. Would this skill be an improvement?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: This would be an improvement but also different than the Capehart routine. I think that learning both would be beneficial in studying the rings.
