Magic download (video) by Karl Hein (30.00)

This is THE DEFINITIVE guide to assembling a virtual magic show. What Karl Hein covers in this 30 minute full show and tutorial (almost three hours in total) is more comprehensive in scope and more ambitious in material than ANY other virtual show you've seen. Not only will you learn six routines with all sorts of props, but you'll learn how to involve the virtual audience ACROSS several routines. In other words, you can USE their participation in one piece to your secret advantage later, in a totally different piece. Karl Hein understands the power of this newfound medium, and how to get MEANINGFUL involvement from spectators. This isn't just about asking them to name a card or a country; families feel integral to the magic. Trust us: this is NOT just an explanation of six great tricks (although six OUTSTANDING zoom effects are explained in detail): this important tutorial will shift your thinking on the possibilities of virtual magic and enhance your knowledge of how to use the format to your best advantage.

You will learn:

Homing Pocket Transpo - This is a masterclass in how to take a quick, visual "live" card trick and make it interactive and fascinating for all involved. You cause two cards named by spectators to change places. But in so doing, you get EVERYONE involved, and get WAY, WAY ahead for your show.

Cubed Match - It's Rubik's Cube Magic...virtually. Karl shows you a technique so that virtual spectators can still be involved in mixing the cubes, and you show a completely perfect match. But once again, Karl is ten steps ahead of the audience. "Cubed Match" allows you set yourself up for an INCREDIBLE climax at the end of your show.

Just Right Bills and Just Right Ritual - Two underused and lovely effects using dollar bills or equivalent currency. As usual with Karl, everyone feels in control and involved. Just Right Bills is going to bring particular pleasure to those in the audience who like organization in their lives!

Zoom Pathways - This is a prediction effect with an array of assorted objects. It's visually interesting because it can use anything: a shoe, a lighter, a plate, and more...but it's also a way to get EVERYONE involved in a trick that traditionally uses just one spectator.

What's in the Cup? - This is the finale and incredible ending to your virtual show. And...it's the culmination of secret information and forcing used throughout the entire performance. This routine uses a genius idea of Bedros "Spidey" to easily produce different chosen objects from under an ordinary cup. The audience sees visual magic, but they feel it's completely customized to THEIR choices and decisions throughout the virtual show.

"Karl Hein strikes again! Watching a virtual audience experience a "Cube Match" was an absolute delight and miracle. He's one of a handful of magicians who consistently inspire and keep the bar high."Rob Zabrecky

“Karl is brilliant as always. Converting his cube routine for a virtual format is, on its own, easily worth the cost of this video. Both the virtual performer and novice will certainly find valuable lessons and strong interactive material taught clearly and designed for the online medium.”Ben Seidman

"The truly remarkable thing about Karl Hein's virtual offering is the degree to which every member of the audience is engaged. No less remarkable is his ability to involve the entire audience, without the use of procedure laden effects (that appear to rely solely upon mathematical principles). Karl's material is the exact opposite: easy to understand, entertaining, and totally amazing!" Benjamin Barnes, Entertainment Director, Chicago Magic Lounge

"Karl Hein, whether live or online, is one of my favorite performers and creators."John Born

“Karl Hein is a genius, and these Zoom based routines are even more proof of that. He turns the drawbacks of virtual shows into features that make these routines miracles.” Jon Armstrong

"What an amazing collection of interactive virtual magic! These are all brand new routines ready to insert into your virtual magic show. 'What's in the Cup?' is a must-see, must-do effect. It's a reputation making closer that will have your clients asking for more. Or learn them all, and you have a solid 30 minute highly interactive virtual show."John George

”Karl Hein is what showbiz professionals call a 'signature talent.' His live appearances at The Magic Castle and other high profile venues are indeed legendary. And now, with his 'Connected' offering, he provides useful material for those who are seriously working to create a high-quality virtual show. I've seen Karl deliver superb performances in multiple showrooms at The Magic Castle, at live lectures in magic shops, and through real-time virtual fundraiser events. I would happily add his high-quality Connected tutorial to this list. It is required viewing for any magical entertainer seeking to make the most of virtual entertainment.”David Kovac

When I was taking zoom shows more seriously over the summer of 2020, I was SO glad to stumble across this download. I’ve been familiar with Karl’s work for years and he hasn’t disappointed. This is no exception!

The thinking, the structure, and all the nuances that Karl implements into his online show are astounding and really elevated the way I routined my own online magic. While I wouldn’t perform every trick taught on here (wasn’t too impressed with Just Right Ritual or Zoom Pathways), the download is well worth it just for Karl’s genius approach to zoom magic. Oh, and it’s worth it for both Homing Card Plus and Cube Match. Not just one perfect zoom trick, you get TWO.

Incredible! One of the best purchases I made in 2020. If you’re even remotely interested in online zoom magic, GET THIS NOW.

This download is absolutely brilliant. Everything is very practical and powerful for zoom, and almost everything can be transferred into real life except for the whats under the cup routine. The cube match trick is genius, and is now one of my favourite tricks. Karl is a brilliant teacher, going over everything on detail to make sure we understand. The methods are also very smart. Brilliant download. Highly recommend.

This one is great! All of them are foolers, and ideal for zoom shows. I was fooled several times in the show, so I can tell you guys, this one is a great download.

Just purchased and watched it. It’s fantastic! Very well thought out. I love the way Karl gets spectators involved and engaged throughout the show. The last trick is really great and a perfect way to end the show. Great job!!!

Another great download in the Connected series. I had really enjoyed Dani DaOrtiz's Connected a few months ago so I was itching to check this out. Here are my thoughts:

Homing Pocket Transpo - A neat opener in which a thought of card jumps back and forth from your pocket. Not for me, but card guys will like this.

Cubed Match - a stinning Rubik's Cube effect that works great in this virtual form. Fooling and easier than I assumed!

Just Right Bills and Just Right Ritual - Two great bill effects that combine nicely. Love the audience interaction here. I actually fooled myself. Dani DaOrtiz fans will like this a lot.

Zoom Pathways - A load of free choices are predicted. I was fooled and intend to use this for sure.

What's in the cup - WOW WOW WOW. This could be the perfect zoom trick. You need to see it!

9/10

SO HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE. Thanks Vanishing Inc. When I read the email, I decided to check it out as it sounded good. It's 10 times better than I hoped. Cube Match was my highlight. And the ending of course :D 5/5

Been a big fan of Hein ever since I saw his bar set at Magifest. Great magician. Bought this download with high hopes and he over delivers. When was the last time you got a 2.5 hour + download for $25?! The ending is worth the price of the download alone. Lots of magic taught. I am not a performer but I'm going to fool a bunch of my friends with these tricks. Zoom... here I come.

It was OK. the only two effects that I really liked were Cube match and the pocket transpo, other than that not a lot of strong magic.

Have a question about this product? It's possible others do too. Ask here and other Vanishing Inc. Magic customers will be able to respond with assistance! Alternatively, email us and we can help too.

  • Stuart asks: Really tempted by this. Does anyone know the difficulty of these effects?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Most of the effects are VERY easy to do. Some are even self working.
    • 2. Karl answers: The majority are easy to do or self-working and one will require some standard card sleights like double lift and palm. - Karl Hein
  • Phil asks: Is this a full show? Or trick, trick, trick? ie. Do the tricks flow from one to the other?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You get to see a FULL SHOW. Karl performs the tricks, as a show, for a live audience.
    • 2. Karl answers: Yes, the effects I am including are put together to form a show where the effects generally flow from one to the next and they are all connected to the other routines in some way.
  • Utah asks: Is this material published elsewhere? I don't recognise some of these effects. Very intrigued.

    • 1. Karl answers: Some of these effects are unpublished and the others are all significantly adapted in both presentation and method to fit the medium.
    • 2. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: There is lots of new material here, including "What's In The Cup?". So in short - there is a whole bunch of new material here.
    • 1. Karl answers: Some of these effects are unpublished and the others are all significantly adapted in both presentation and method to fit the medium.
  • Sam asks: Are there any additional magic props required? i.e chop cup etc?

    • 1. Jim answers: Participants will need a deck of cards, 1, 2, 3 or 4 (optional) dice, a Sharpie/pen and some paper. In addition the performer will need three Rubik's Cubes, some prepared currency, a dice cup and production items. Index cards and paper clips are helpful too.

  • Mark asks: It states that Karl performs and teaches 6 effects, but the list consists of only 5 effects. Am I missing something?

    • 1. Karl answers: There are 6 effects in total. The two bill effects are so connected they could be considered one routine. However, they are distinctly two different effects with very different methods. The first the performer does, the second the audience follows along and the magic happens in their hands.

  • Nicklas asks: Does anyone know if it is possible to perform these tricks live, or does it only work in zoom??

    • 1. Tim answers: Zoom shows are live. ??
    • 2. Karl answers: Agreed - All of these routines but one were modified from routines that I previously performed live. In some cases, I talk about the differences between live performances and virtual performances. There are only two effects where part of the method would have to be re-worked for live performances. For one, almost any multiple out method can be applied (of which I mention several in the video). For the other, it would mean not doing only part of the effect while the majority of the routine can still be done live.
    • 3. Dottore answers: With some minor adjustments, all of these effects can be performed live.

  • Robert asks: Does Karl cover his technical setup (lighting camera, etc). The trailer looks like it’s great quality.

    • 1. Karl answers: The technical setup is not the focus of this video. I was asked to provide 6 interactive routines and I organized them into an interactive and connected show as a bonus for Vanishing Inc and its customers. I intentionally kept the technical setup simple, but professional. Here are the details that I am using for this show, but please keep in mind that I am not an expert on this topic and there are many factors to consider. I am using Logitech C920 on a Mac with Webcam Settings App (Important) to control the settings (brightness, gain, white balance, etc). I am using a Samson Go USB Mic for decent sound. I am using 3 basic LED Panel Lights (dimmable) with portable softboxes. One of those lights is attached to the back of my chair to provide the backlight behind my head. And of course, I am using several InStands and similar style tables with close-up pads from pattricksmagic.com. The most important factors from my experience are making sure lights are adjustable, camera settings can be controlled, and using softboxes or umbrellas to diffuse and soften the light.
    • 2. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: He does not. That said, you might want to check out: https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/ebooks/lights-camera-magic/

    • 3. Robert answers: Thanks Karl. Looks terrific. Thank you. I look forward to spending time with this release.
  • Ben asks: As with Marksman deck, is there a chance to watch the performance, before deciding whether to purchase? Thanks!

    • 1. Steven answers: The trailer is it.
    • 2. Ben answers: Steven, I'm asking if a FULL show performance could be made available (a la Marksman deck)?
    • 3. Ben answers: What a terrific answer. Thank you Karl!
    • 4. Karl answers: The decision to not release a free version of this show is mostly mine. The trailer gives an accurate feel for the show, and there is a full performance of one of the routines on Vanishing Inc's Instagram page. There are many good reasons why I would prefer not to release the show for free, and there are also good reasons in support of releasing a free show. Many magicians would be happy to pay $25 to be entertained and see the decisions (good and bad) a performer puts into an online show (without watching the explanations). Many magicians would be happy to pay the same (many would prefer to pay much more to keep the information more exclusive), just to see tricks and explanations without a show. If someone wants both, this is an incredible value. There is an obvious difference between asking for a free sample of ice cream before purchasing and asking to consume a double scoop cone before deciding to pay for it. In the case of the Marksman Deck, the decks are the valuable products you are buying, and the show is the promotion. In this case, the show is the product, as well as the explanations. There is always a concern about regretting a purchase. It is therefore wise to purchase from reputable companies that curate their products and from performers with reputations of providing solid material and ideas (that even those who never perform the material will benefit from).

  • Olivier asks: Is it suitable for any audience size or is there a recommended max number of simultaneous spectators ?

    • 1. Dottore answers: If they are watching by video call, there is no real limit outside the call's technical limits.
