Book by Simon Aronson (49.99)

In stock.

We are VERY proud to announce Art Decko, the first new book by Simon Aronson in more than a decade. The book is full of devastating card material packed into his largest book ever...325 pages spread over 8 sections. You'll learn a slew of effects that can be done with little or no set up, a section on his "Birthdays" concept, a section called "Totals," which introduces a new plot and method for card effects, as well as tricks with memorized stacks, gaffs, and more. Equally important, there are two groundbreaking essays in this collection, where Simon theorizes about the uses of predictions, and how they can strengthen (or weaken) an effect.

Art Decko is Simon’s largest book ever, with eight sections of new material that run the gamut of card magic:

On the Spot – impromptu effects with an ordinary, shuffled deck
Two-Faced – some of Simon’s most deceptive magic, with just one or two gaffs
Totals – an in-depth study of a great new plot
Birthdays – a new exploration of the birthday datebook theme
Techniques – new and subtle techniques that are highly deceptive, but easy to do
Memorized Decks – effects both stack independent and tailored to the Aronson stack
Eccentrics – a grab bag of effects
Predictions – the most detailed, theoretical study of predictions you’ve ever read; includes Two by Two (the ultimate ACAAN – two freely chosen playing cards are discovered at two freely chosen numbers).

And SO MUCH MORE...theory essays covering everything from surprise to disillusionment; comment sections that deeply explore variations, alternative routines, and tradeoffs for the professional to weigh. If you want to see how Simon thinks, this book will offer many hours of thought-provoking ideas—all written in Simon’s lucid, detailed, and thorough style.

Josh considers Simon a major influence, role model, and friend, and in recent years Andi has also had the pleasure of getting to know Simon. Both of us have had a chance to read an advance copy of Art Decko, and the book is a revelation! Simon's books are so much fun to read because he is so excited about his material, and the material itself is so intelligent.

Wow this is a beaut of a book and is full of amazing magic. It's not just stack work. Lots of great effects and routines to lean. The essays are great. Aronson is just brilliant. Really happy to have this book as part of my library. This one will keel you busy for hours!

First the good news. This book will let you do stuff that looks amazing. Now the bad news. Your really need a complete Aronson library, so go buy the rest of his books. Often you hear reviews that state there is: gold to be found in each explanation of any given trick. Aronson books are fully of comments that can be transferred to other working tricks. At some point in the magician's journey the why becomes more important that the how. Mr. Aronson delivers on the deeper whys.

Simon Aronson's final book is a testament to his brilliance, and it has much to offer to anyone who cares about card magic.

Since many of Aronson's most famous tricks are rather cerebral, relying on memorization, mathematics, etc., it is worth noting Aronson's contributions to sleight of hand. The Aronson Strip-Out, as explained in this volume, has become my go-to false shuffle. It is fairly easy, yet it is much more fooling that the typical strip-out false shuffle.

This book contains some of Aronson's best essays, most notably the essay on prediction tricks. This is essential reading for magicians everywhere.

As with Try the Impossible, Art Decko contains some wonderful tricks for those who have already memorized the Aronson stack -- that might also entice those who have not yet memorized the Aronson stack! There is a brilliant deck switch. There is a wonderful version of Christ's Fabulous Ace Routine whose use of the Aronson stack -- which does not involve memorization -- makes the trick easier and more fooling. There is a version of Aronson's famous Shuffleboard trick that comes with a photo-copy-able prop that is probably worth the price of the book.

There is more than this. But this alone would make for an incredible capstone to a most impressive career in creating magic.

This is an awesome book. It is well-written, teaches useful but manageable sleights, and contains a variety of material that should appeal to cardicians and mental magic aficionados as well. Even those familiar with Aronson's material will be pleasantly surprised by the effects herein.

I found the essay on predictions, the simple Birthday Datebook system, some of the gaffs, and the Techniques taught to be especially interesting.

It's the book we've been waiting for from Simon for over a decade. Get it before it's gone!
