Socks by Michel Huot - magic
Socks by Michel Huot Socks by Michel Huot Socks by Michel Huot Socks by Michel Huot Socks by Michel Huot Socks by Michel Huot Socks by Michel Huot

Doing unusual things with unusual props is a guaranteed way to make memorable magic. That's why Michel Huot's "Socks" is the most arresting, commercial piece of mentalism we've released in years. This trick, destined to become a hit, is simple and strong in premise: you display two packets of cards with different sock designs on each one. You read that correctly: Sock designs on cards. How cool is that? You explain that the premise is that you will have two chosen, and you hope that the spectator can find the only perfect match. See where this is going? Well, keep reading because it goes somewhere very unexpected.

The spectator turns over the two chosen socks to reveal they do NOT match at all: yellow stars on one sock and purple stripes on the other. But you then lift up your pant cuffs to reveal that you are wearing the exact socks they chose. This hits people hard, and comes as a complete surprise. It's not a card or coin or rope trick, either. It's a mentalism piece with an article of clothing, and it gets both gasps and laughs. "Socks" comes with everything you need, including the socks and specially-printed cards. It's easy to do and takes up virtually no pocket space. It is an IDEAL opener for walk-around performers.

We have also included a bonus effect with "Socks". On the bottom of the special socks is a playing card reveal so that you can predict a chosen card.

Update (July 2020) - When you buy from Vanishing Inc. you will learn an exclusive new handling by Liam Montier. This handling is ideal for virtual shows and is 100% reliable. The cards can even be shuffled by the spectator!

Socks is a fun, interactive routine with a killer surprise ending they won’t forget!Richard Sanders

Michel Huot’s Socks Knocked mine right off my feet! So clever and simple with a fun and organically visual payoff, this piece will play just as strongly in a corporate strolling environment as it will in a casual private party. Michel’s performance and explanation made me smile from start to finish. Just great!Francis Menotti

Socks knocks my Sox off. It’s funny, mysterious, and not at all difficult. I will use it, so will you.Marc Salem

Socks is unique and super strong. It is so rare to have something that combines magic, comedy and surprise in such a powerful way for the close-up/parlor performer. This is going right into my repertoire!Marc Desouza

Customer reviews for Socks by Michel Huot

I just received “Socks” so I haven’t put it in my family show yet. But I bought it for that purpose. It comes with a standard size set of cards which actually will not work for me. But it also comes with a pdf of the cards and it was easy to create larger cards to use on stage. I like the double ending of the socks on your feet matching the chosen socks but the kicker of all the cards matching at the end of the routine is what really sold it for me. I think it’s going to really be fun and impressive!

I saw this magic trick several times in TV-Shows and thought I might give it a try. And it is just perfect. I like to keep the surprise with the socks just until the end am reveal the matching cards before showing the socks. The reaction is always the same. Disbelief when I return the cards an then hard laughter when I show the socks. I love it. I already a second pair of socks and will order the entire pack again to keep it as a backup.

Very nice effect with multiple ways to perform this routine. I like the original routine the best but feel that the other versions will also play out strongly, although I particularly like all the remaining pairs matching up at the end. I believe this is a very nice addition to either a magic or mentalist set depending on the presentation.

Until I saw it myself, I thought the hype was greater than the effect. I was very wrong. The effect is as described below but each sock has a value and a suit on the bottom of each dock. Not only are the socks found to natch, the cards then match, and propping your feet up shows a card selected earlier by the spectator. No one has seen any of this coming.

The reactions are either laughing and disbelief at the unexpected surprise. I bought two sets.

The teaching downloads are excellent. This is highly recommended.

Like the other reviewers have said, this is an awesome effect! The magic is strong if you do it as instructed(with the cards and the socks) but you can even do something along the lines of - wear the socks out, force the number and suit, have that card vanish from a deck of cards, and appear printed on your socks. Buy this!

I use Socks in every show, both close-up and parlor/stage gigs. I love it so much, I keep one set in each kit, plus a backup set, and two extra pairs of socks! Yup, that's a whopping three sets of cards and five pairs of socks. I use a totally different way of getting the results (think 'Gemini Twins'), but I'm sure most of you will "use your favorite method" too. It's a great effect and highly recommended.

This bonus performance by Liam Montier is also very helpful in keeping the trick fresh and gives you a shorter and simpler routine than the original routine demonstrated by Michel Huot. Although you do not have as dramatic ending as Huot’s, you do have the benefit of not having to worry about much of a set-up.

Liam explains and performs the trick extremely well leaving no "sock unturned" sorry for the bad humour. His bonus handling of the trick allows the beginner to be able to perform it straight away, after a few practices and getting yourself familiar with the setup youl be performing it like a pro as being a bit of a novice myself I do surprisingly well. Wonderful effect. I like it so much because it is not a card or coin trick. Totally different type routine which if presented should hold you audience’s attention. Also lots of room for some humor and fun. A little nervous about his timing force so will be using cross cross force.

While developing a new close-up/parlor show, I discovered "SOCKS" on the Vanishing website. The effect is highly visual and contemporary with a patter theme all can relate to. i.e., that missing sock or the many mismatches attributed to the dryer ghost, et al.
I performed the effect as a closer to a 45-minute routine and could not have been more impressed with the hilarious results.
A winner with a great ending following the reveal. Highly recommended! (See AGT performance).

As my wife has seen so many card tricks, I thought her virtually immune from being surprised. When she saw this effect performed at a restaurant, her laugh was loud and she frightened the next table. The teaching is solid on the video. I hope to do it as well.

A very cute routine which is also very funny! Everyone that has done laundry has experienced putting 2 socks in the washer only to find only one sock made it out of the dryer. It's a conspiracy to make us buy more socks! There are 2 sets of cards and the premise that the spectator can find at least ONE match of socks in the sets of cards. The magician starts removing cards from both stacks and the spectator can call stop. The magician places the two cards face down on the table. The magician turns the cards already dealt face up on the table except the 2 the spectator chose. None match. The magician shows the rest of the undealt cards and they didn't match either. The magi collects the cards, squares up each of the two decks, and places them face down on the table. The magi takes each of the spectators cards, looks at them and frowns. What follows is a surprising result after the spectator and audience think the magician failed. The socks don't match! But wait! The magician pulss up his pants legs and shows the spectator DID select the right cards as the mismatched cards match the mismatched socks the magician is wearing!
The video download performs, and then explains the trick. The video is clear to understand and the trick is easy to perform. After the spectator actually selected the socks the magician was wearing, there is a kicker ending. After the magician shows the spectator selected the right cards showing the magi's mismatched socks, the magi now deals the cards out of the 2 decks and now each pair matches! This is kicker #1. The second kicker is when the magic removes the socks and on the soles of the socks is a number and on the other sole a card suit. My socks are 8H. Thsi is kicker #2. And I will tie that into Alexander's rising cards (also sold on Vanishing Inc). That trick can rise up to 3 cards and the 3rd card will be Alexander's favorite card (8H). So the double kicker will also be the finale of my 10-minute routine.

This is really good. Off beat. Organic. Different. Refreshing. Can't wait to work it in. Instructions are very good. Not sure the kicker is really needed, but I will see what kind of reaction it will get. The socks are climatic enough. Maybe leave the cards on the table and come back to them later. That is what I'll probably try first.

I have used it in walk around, parlour/ stand up shows and it is a mainstay in my virtual shows. There are magic items we all reget buying... I guarantee, this will not be one of those items.

I purchased 2 sets and have used this bit repeatedly. There is a flaw that I get called on once in awhile by a skeptical person. The Green and yellow sock does not match the card. I find myself showing it quickly to avoid them getting a good look at it. I have done this on stage using a force based on the same premise I knew 30 or 40 years ago with the unmatched socks. This is still a great close-up trick that people love.

As always Vanishing Inc has provided top-quality props. The cards come in a great-looking wallet and the socks look like they will last quite a while. Instructions are good, although if you are really new to magic there may be parts that go by a little too quickly. However, with a repeat viewing, you should be fine. Several forces are explained so you have some options to develop a routine that works for you. A fun and original routine.

Simply a great premise for the matching plot.

I only match the cards to my socks and don't do the other phase, as I think matching cards is inherently weaker conceptually and theatrically.

Put simply, end by showing them your socks!

I bought this specifically to perform for my wife and daughter - they are both knitters and knit socks. The routine knocked their socks off, so to speak! Since that original performance I've performed it several times in a variety of environments - it's really fun to do when out to dinner with a group where no one can see it coming because who wears different, brightly color, wild socks out to dinner?!

There is a very simple routine provided with the instructions that even the absolute beginning magician can perform with ease.

Socks is a winner!

Really nice, love the idea of wearing a prediction. With the included bonus card prediction you can also get creative with the force method to achieve some different effects. For example, use the Bill Simon business card prophecy force to have a chosen playing card wind up in between the cards of 2 random socks... of course the ones you are wearing!

I'm not a big review writer - but Socks is different. I have used socks in a few gigs this week - and every time it has killed. Last night, at a house Halloween party, right before I revealed the matching socks, a few people said, "No way!" - they had figured out where the trick was going, and were already blown away - and the icing on the cake was the reveal of the matching cards. If you want to add a trick to your performing repertoire that is easy, fun, different and mystifying. Get socks - it's worth every penny! It's even worth walking around the performance with your pants around you calves for a while!

This trick so so powerful and so easy to perform it went immediately into my show and is getting killer reactions. I, like a lot of people I’m sure, was super weary about the card selection procedure and elected to change it up for some piece of mind. When I finally built up the courage to perform it as instructed, I found that it is far more foolproof than I thought… ive only had it miss once or twice and the out provided in the video to deal with that worked perfectly!

I am a beginner magician. I love learning the magic of wonder and surprise. "Socks" is incredibly magical. The training video is excellent. After practicing a few times I was able to perform Socks for a small group of friends, receiving great smiles and applause. Inspired, I performed Socks a second time for a different group. All went smoothly, resulting in facial expressions of surprise. These reactions enhanced my enthusiasm to continue learning. Typical of a beginner's enthusiasm I performed Socks yet again, for another person, but failing to set up the cards properly, the "kicker" failed. Lesson learned. Socks forces you to be meticulous in preparation, creative in story telling and how to "force" a selection. The lessons are generalizable to many other magical moments. I have high regard for Michel Huot's creation. Thank you Michel. Many thanks to Joshua and Andi, cofounder's of Vanishing, Inc. for making Socks and other magic available to the student magician.

This is a card prediction requiring the performer to force two cards. Do I hear you yawning? That may not sound very exciting, but the reveal has tremendous novelty value and is very striking indeed. The plot is that the spectator tries to pick two matching picture cards to make a correct pair of socks. When the cards prove not to have matching socks on them, the magician reveals that he is wearing two different socks that pefectly match the two socks on the spectator’s cards. Michel Huot teaches a final phase in which all the remaining cards have magically reordered themselves into matching pairs. If that sounds like a less interesting close to the effect, then it may be worth considering the fact that audiences are sometimes more likely to remember an effect as your best one if it is not the last one in your set. And you don’t have to do the final phase. You can just end with the socks reveal. The brightly coloured socks are of very good quality and, unless you wear them all day every day (unlikely!) they should last a very long time. I have size 9 feet and the socks fit me perfectly. They are stretchy and I am sure that they would fit a size 11 or more very comfortably. If you have very small feet, the socks could be pulled out of a box that has been in full view the whole time, or you could have them pegged to a washing line but covered with a cloth. Just to make sure the socks lasted a very long time, I bought two sets. This means also means that Ihave extra cards. That opens the door for more options. For example, in some situations (e.g. when you do not have a table to lay the cards out on) it is better to have a deck with more cards in it so that you can simply hold the deck and force each card on two spectators. The game would be to see if the spectators can randomly pick the same card as each other. They fail but they make a connection with the magician who is wearing the non-matching socks they have chosen. With two pairs of socks, you could also arrange things so that the spectator does succeeed in picking matching socks AND the magician is wearing the exact same pair of matching socks. The cards are beautifully printed on good stock. You are supplied with a pdf of the images so that you could print jumbo sized cards for stage work if you wanted to. The cards come in a very nice quality plastic wallet so that you can carry the two stacks ready to go in your pocket. The main force that Michel Huot teaches is a timing force and this would not suit everyone. You really do not have to force the cards that way. If you can, and it takes some guts to do it, it is very deceiving. Michel teaches some other options but Vanishing Inc also supply a bonus video in which Liam Montier teaches an alternative handling of the effect. That is very helpful indeed. Liam’s ‘great card magic for dummies’ approach is a great gift to all those starting out in magic. Check out his other video downloads. Both videos supplied with this trick are of very high quality, well shot, good sound, no music and contain excellent teaching from both Michel Huot and Liam Montier. This product appears to have come down in price since it was first released. It was a bargain at the original price, so grab it at the new super bargain price while you can. There is also a Christmas edition that looks very nice. At the time of writing this review, the Christmas edition is more expensive than the original version. Since I’d probbaly only use that once a year, that feels like a bit of a luxury, but if it came up in one of Vanishing Inc’s amazing sales, I’d definitely snap that up too.

Quality set of props that live up to what is a quality trick. If you are bold enough to perform this effect, you will have on your hands a truly shocking and powerful effect that will play for close up, parlour or even stage audiences. It's surprising, unique, quirky, deceptive and powerful, factors that all come together and make it hard to forget this effect.

If you don't mind the sleightly bold workings, you will have a routine that requires little pocket space and minimum foot space that can easily be a stand out piece in any performance setting you find yourself in.

This is a really great trick. There's one part of the method that beginners could find a little intimidating, but they provide multiple other methods to achieve the same effect. Also, this sounds ridiculous to comment on, but the wallet the cards come with is really high quality. I'm so used to cheap plastic sleeves - it just impresses me with Vanishing Inc even more, both because I think it will hold up better, but also because it looks and feels like a classier prop. If a company is willing to go to this length and level of quality for something that isn't even part of the actual effect mechanics, I think it says a lot. The details are important, and clearly they aren't cutting corners.

This is a fun trick that gets a great reaction. To maximize the effect, there are two things that I would suggest you change in the presentation, from what is recommended. First the "force" that is suggested on the video is, in my view, simply unreliable. but if you have the force cards split so that one is at the top and one is at the bottom of your socks cards, you can easily do the Bill Simon business card prophecy force.
Second, because the fact that you are wearing the socks on two of the selected cards is so strong, I would suggest that after forcing those two cards, you do some false cuts and maybe a false shuffle, and then match all of the cards....and then END with showing that the socks on your feet match the cards selected by the spectator. As having the socks on your feet is so strong, I think it is anticlimactic to follow it with matching the cards. my two cents.

The effect is great. Gets a nice reaction. The card reveal on the bottom of the socks is also a kicker, they love it!

Excellent design and product. Maybe others saw what I immediately noticed..."You can do many other effects with the 15 different sock cards.". For instance...Do the "Pateo Force" with the 15 cards. At the end subject turns over last card on table and "Presto"... It's the yellow sock you have on your foot! Tom Williams

I have spent a small fortune on magic props and effects this year, and I can put my hand on my heart and say that Socks is, by a million miles, my favourite piece of magic this year. Alternative handlings are taught, so there is something to suit every skill level/confidence level. You get everything you need, and everything that is supplied is of an excellent quality. This is a stunning routine which has a fantastic 'kicker' ending that spectators simply won't see coming. This is absolutely awesome, and extremely easy. It will knock their socks off!

Boy! What a good trick. The set-up is simple. Adding a total of four possible forces is really helpful. It gives you alternatives so that the trick can be performed over again (although not to the same audience) and appear fresh. (I think that freshness is important to the magician, because after performing a trick over and over again, there is a tendency to feel rote and mechanical, which subliminally is communicated to the audience.)

The only reason I did not give it a five star is that on my iPad the video would sometimes have breaks in it for a second or less that became distracting. That may be a problem with my iPad or streaming download connection and not with the video itself.

One warning, however. Now that I have seen all 15 different pairs of socks pictured, I would like to get the other 13 pairs in addition to the two that come with the trick. They make quite a fashion statement.

Great material and a nice and entertaining piece of magic for a parlor event. It definitely works better in a big event with many people than in small close-up scene. The forced cards depend on the timing and therefore you should pick the right person for that. You cannot repeat the trick for the same person for obvious reasons but it really impresses the audience.

I have the Christmas Socks which I found excellent. I was somewhat disappointed in these Socks. The socks do not match exactly the cards (the Christmas Socks did match perfectly). Since they do not match perfectly, I am concerned that I will be called out on it. Not sure why it was so difficult to get the cards to match the socks or the socks to match the cards. Seems pretty straight-forward to me.

I love Socks and always look forward performing it. I don't use the original version that is taught where all the socks match. I use the additional version with the feet cards (I took the feet cards from my "The Gallery" decks!)
The only thing I am a bit disappointed is that the illustrations on the cards don't match the socks 100 %. Performing it for a bunch of children there is always one that points out the mismatching details.

I purchased from a different shop than Vanishing Inc. First I have a 7.5 size foot and the socks are very tight getting on and off. My yellow sock has a yellow tip and the card for the yellow sock has a black tip. The purple sock has a red tip and the purple sock card has a black tip. The first time I did the effect I took my shoes off and someone pointed that out. I'm still pleased with the effect but, for $50.00 everything should match. And paraphrasing Dai Vernon "details make for perfection".

Reviewer

Meik

Well, I received Socks, literally and figuratively. I concur with some of the previous reviewers, the "original" routine or should I say force is way too convoluted and actually makes no sense. Why show a full deck of matching socks AFTER showing the mismatched ones on your feet. From a comedic timing standpoint that version is anticlimactic. Having said that, I do like the last force explained on the video as well as the version by Liam Montier. The first one is suitable to do the mismatched sock reveal after showing all the other pairs match and the Liam Montier version is nice for walk-around or party performances. Overall a decent trick with quality props even though the "original" version is not to my personal liking. BTW: Yes, socks are a bit tight but I would not wear them for hours on end anyway.

Reviewer

Landon

This is a great concept with a poor method. Upon receiving the socks and the cards, I dove in. Michel Huot runs through the tutorial nicely but for what? The forcing method makes ZERO sense. I could think of a million other ways of getting the spectator to choose the desired socks (a sock deck of svengali cards, two way forcing deck with socks printed on them, etc.).
At this point I just wear the expensive mismatched socks around the house and remember that time I forked out $40.

Reviewer

Alan

I'm sorry. I've read all the favorable reviews on this and I just don't get it. The force needed to perform this is way too convoluted and complex. If it doesn't work right the first time, you must resort to "Plan B". Frankly, I'm disappointed with this purchase and expected more from Vanishing Inc. If you can pull this effect off, then I congratulate you. But, I suspect, there will be many who have made this purchase and will never say a word about how it doesn't work for them.

I have a great printer, and laminate machine, If you have a problem getting them made up, contact me, and I will see what I can do for you, let me know what size you're looking for, I'm on facebook under CARL DE ROME, or you can Email me at cdrmagic@online.no. will only charge cost and postage fee.
  • Marshall asks: Can the trick be repeated like in a walk around style show?

    • 1. Michael answers: Can you order more than 1 pair of socks?
    • 2. Gary answers: Would be even better if the PSD files were included I am sure you could get them as a download?
    • 3. Michel Huot (creator) responds: I repeat the trick over and over. The outcome is the same. At the outcome, i am actually standing on a chair or whatever and the audience naturally shields the finale.
    • 1. Michael answers: Can you order more than 1 pair of socks?
    • 2. Gary answers: Would be even better if the PSD files were included I am sure you could get them as a download?
  • Brian asks: Is this the same effect as Josh Jay does in his show?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes!
  • Robert asks: Is this 100%, or does it require a certain, how shall we say, rhythm?

    • 1. Rick answers: So, was this video the best case scenario?
    • 2. S. Patrick answers: Yes.
    • 3. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You are taught several procedures, so there are options for everyone.
    • 1. Rick answers: So, was this video the best case scenario?
    • 2. S. Patrick answers: Yes.
  • Peter asks: Are there difficult slights or false counts?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No. Socks is easy to perform.
  • Robert asks: Greetings. So am I correct to conclude that this is first a mentalism effect (the socks on the two cards randomly chosen by the spectator match those worn by the performer) and then becomes a magic trick (all the mismatched sock cards now match)?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Correct.
    • 2. Gary answers: Make sure you put the right sock on the right foot!
  • Thom asks: This reminds me of the Kreskin routine that Josh lectured on at The Event. Based on, inspired by, credited etc?

    • 1. Michel Huot (creator) responds: Kreskin, Paul Daniels and Patrik Kuffs were the influence for me. I was performing a stage version for 22 years and wanted the same reaction for close-up. That is why SOCKS was created. I think ALi Bongo also did something on stage.
  • Keith asks: Not sure the question was answered, but is this 100% sure or can you miss?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: If you follow Michel's instructions, it is 100%.
  • Kevin asks: Can you buy extra pairs of the socks? (Or even better, could we get a different pairing of odd socks for repeating on another occasion)?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: We will be selling extra socks down the line. At the moment, you can buy just a replacement pair (same design).
  • David asks: SOOOO you going to Sock It to Me ??? ( 70's Joke ! )

    • 1. Sean answers: Haha. I laughed
    • 2. Gary answers: no...

  • Clifton asks: Does the choosing procedure by the spectator always follow EXACTLY what we see in the video (which seems impossible), OR does the choosing procedure vary depending on what the spectator chooses? Thus, could the choosing portion of the trick take longer than the video presents if the the spectator's (initial) choice is different?

    • 1. SGKYDUYEN answers: It's exactly the same what you see in the video. I have do that force for around 5 - 6 years and I success most of the time. In the video you also learn a easy 100% success handling
    • 2. Marlin answers: Contrary to what Tony answered, NO, what is shown in the video is NOT guaranteed to be exactly how the choosing process goes. If you read the other comments, it's very clear the demo video shows the "best case scenario" and is based on the timing technique. A skill many beginners may not feel comfortable with, which is why is has been mentioned many times in comments that not only are multiple "plan B" outs provided, but several different methods altogether. Methods are provided which would likely be more comfortable for beginners (and possibly even experienced pros). If you do the method as shown in the demo, it is VERY LIKELY that at least occasionally you will need to revert to an "out" / Plan B. When the method shown WORKS, as it should most of them time when done as taught, it will seem like a miracle. The few times it DOESN'T, you revert to an "out" which will not be quite as strong as when the method works, but will still have a successful ending, and will likely only happen rarely, so the stunning effect on the audience all the times it works is (to many performers) worth the weaker alternate ending for the likely very few times you will need to revert to that.

    • David Matkin asks: Serious question... I did ask it in another thread .... But it may have seemed like I was not really askin. 1) will refills of socks be available? 2) what guarantees of these fitting me do you provide? I have highly unusual feet and tend to go through socks VERY quivckly, I would also not be able to use the card reveal. Thanks for your time. David

      • 1. Serh answers: There is also a plain red and a plain white sock card included. No reason you couldn’t use a store bought red sock on one foot and white on the other for an alternate reveal. This would also solve the problem for those who feel the provided socks won’t fit (but they will).
      • 2. Gino answers: As previously mentioned.....Was lucky to get my hands on this effect on pre-launch and I wear a comfortable size 14 shoe, comfortable meaning borderline size 15 and these socks fit very well, no worries!
      • 3. David Matkin answers: so you're saying they will fit ok then?
      • 4. Michael answers: Well the socks will not work if you have feet like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=feet+of+the+creature+from+the+black+lagoon&client=firefox-b-1-d&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=9N2YqE_JzWDv3M%253A%252CBl1Xj3eQrkSJBM%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kQvfmEEUH9cnjjJQMoi3NIJUg73eg&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwizx6-UruvjAhVsuVkKHaYlBEgQ9QEwAXoECAYQCQ&biw=1216&bih=503#imgrc=9N2YqE_JzWDv3M:

    • Joey asks: Bonjour, I have a series of shows at a fair in Vt. near Canada that I would use this effect to "Kick Off" my "Footloose" kids show. Does the force or prediction work well with kids and can you get it to me by 8/19/19?

      • 1. S. Patrick answers: I have found that kids, as opposed to adults don't follow the natural pacing of the force that Michel shows. They tend to let you go deeper. For kids I'd recomend the other 100% method of arriving at the right pair that was taught on the video.
      • 2. Gary answers: There is a review here where he shows kids reactions it looks impressive. https://youtu.be/NAQrEDRDve8 I should get a job at Vanishing inc!

    • Neal asks: I am a beginner. Are there any techniques necessary to perform the trick that I would need to learn?

      • 1. John answers: There is an additional handling which requires you to make up some special cards; not really gimmicked, but very obvious. once you buy the trick you get access to this alternate force. I do it all the time and it is awesome.....i can see why they sell replacement socks. Great Trick!
      • 2. Darren answers: Neal, I am also a beginner. I can confirm that the version you see in the performance video has a force which will require a little bit of practice, and requires a little confidence, too, in my opinion. BUT the tutorial also has some alternative handlings. Get to the 30 minute mark and you find a handling which I have performed three times now (and I only received the trick a day ago) to family and friends, and received awesome reactions. The handling taught at the 30 minute mark is breath-takingly easy, and very fooling. I have spent a small fortune on magic props and effects this year, far more than I should have done. And this, by a country mile, is my favourite effect of the year. Absolute awesome. Extremely easy.
      • 3. SGKYDUYEN answers: There are two versions, one very easy and you can do it immediately and another one you need to learn a cool force.
      • 4. Gary answers: I agree when you get to the 30 min mark it is a great way to present the trick! Thanks for that one. Can't wait to perform this in Portugal next month!

    • Jon asks: It doesn't look like the yellow socks match the card. Looks like the yellow sock is more green than yellow? Jon Lafayette IN

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: This is a color correction issue with the video. Live, the colors do indeed match.
      • 2. Gary answers: Yes in the video that put me off at first until you see the cards for yourself.
    • Andreas asks: Is there extra pairs of the force cards provided?

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yup
    • Catherine asks: I am a woman. Do they fit a size 9 foot?

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yup
    • Tim asks: If you want to use cc force is there any alteration to the piles of cards to show them like you do so they look different?

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Several methods are taught on the video. Any technique will work, as long as it doesn't disturb the order of the cards.
    • Ben asks: I know that it has already been said that replacement socks might be available in the future, but is it planned to have a different set of odd socks and the matching cards created at any point? It would be nice to have some variation and some funkier looking odd socks!!

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Thank you for the feedback! There aren't any plans currently, but it is certainly possible. It will depend on sales and demand over time.
      • 2. Ben answers: Thank you for your reply! Would you say it's possible to have different cards made up to use with different socks then, in order for there to be a little variation when performing it a lot throughout a night (like strolling at a wedding reception) I'm thinking that I know a company that creates socks with your own designs and patterns on.
    • Leigh asks: This looks like it could be fun for kids shows too... am I right?

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You're right! We have a lot of fun showing it to all ages!
    • Ellwood asks: What is the 8 of hearts about? Michel says in the video he will discuss that later. But unfortunately, he never gets back to it. Thank you.

    • Wojciech asks: What is the durability of the socks? What material are they made of? How many tkmes can I wear/wash them?

    • Nathan asks: Do you only get one pair of socks

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You get one pair of mismatched socks which is all you need for the routine. Plus the special cards and wallet to carry them!
    • Terry asks: I came here from the email about the AGT performance of this effect (with Mat Franco and Aiden McCann), I wasn't familiar with this trick previously. Some questions: a) The description lists the payoff of the trick as the performer wearing the socks the spectators chose from a pile. Yet the AGT version also shows the other cards/socks in the pile of other sock cards matching. That's included, yes? Seems to be, based on a comment above, though has some extra handling? b) The other sock cards matching (except for the ones the spectators chose) seems to almost be a ... total coincidence. I've never sung a Sonata, only heard of it. But these songs are related? c) The AGT version uses a psychological force at the beginning and then standard card sleight to do a reveal. That's not likely taught in this version, correct?

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: There is a double climax. a) You are wearing the mis-matched socks. b) all the cards now are in pairs. You are taught how to do this in the instructional video. Any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
    • Paul asks: I see that someone has asked about the socks fitting larger feet. I wear a size 14 shoe (I require x-large socks)-- just want to confirm the socks would fit me. And, I assume you do not have to have your shoes off to perform this effect -- correct? Paul Driscoll

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Hi Paul, no you don't need to take off our shoes, however I think they would be very tight if you are a 14. I'm a 12 and they're snug but ok.
    • Marlin asks: Did the spectator choose the wrong card, or why did the picture of (right) sock on the card not match the sock he was wearing? Why doesn't the artwork on the cards match the socks that are provided? The Green/yellow one may be SIMILAR, but are NOT THE SAME, and I guarantee there are people/audiences that will point this out. Why not just make the artwork match exactly?

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Please email magic@vanishingincmagic.com for this type of question and we can discuss in detail with you.
    • John asks: Do you get password for the video tutorial and how many socks do you receive, thanks

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You receive two socks (one (mismatched) pair. And yes, you will have the video instructions available inside your VI account as soon as you make the purchase.
    • George asks: I also noticed they did not match exactly. This should be explained here and not in private as to what happened.

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It has been asked before, and we've explained in public higher up. There was just a color correction issue with the trailer. They socks match. Hope that helps.
